One of the very common complaints I get is lower back pain – specifically right- and left-sided lower back pain. This is usually due to tears in the sacroiliac joints. These joints join together like my knuckles (puts fists together) and there are straps that go across that are ligaments and they tear as we get older. The joint becomes unstable and starts to twist and not fit in properly. Prolotherapy thickens the ligament. As the ligament thickens, it shrinks and pulls the joint back into place. For this problem, I would say that prolotherapy is 90% effective. Roughly a third of all lower back pain is due to sacroiliac instability, and many people get great relief from this procedure.
